By including the “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County in your planned giving, you can enjoy tax benefits along with knowing that your legacy supports a proven, long-term academic and career preparation program for children and their families. Your generosity is also a gift to the community — a gift that helps to halt the cycle of poverty and creates a more vibrant Boulder County.

“I Have A Dream” does not charge tuition or fees for our program, which means we depend on the partnership of individuals, institutions, and community partners to achieve our mission. This approach is intentional. In 1990, our founders had the capacity to fund our first cohort of students on their own. Instead, they decided it was more important to generate community buy-in, believing that we are all responsible for the challenges facing our community.

When you level the playing field for children regardless of their economic circumstances, you create a world full of new leaders, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. Many Dreamer Scholars stay in or return to Boulder County, enabling our entire community to thrive.

If you are remembering “I Have A Dream” in your planned giving, please let us know. With your gift, you’ll immediately enjoy the following benefits:

♦ A welcome gift.
♦ Special access to annual “insider” events.
♦ The opportunity to be recognized on our website and within other print materials, inspiring other donors for decades to come. You also have the option to give anonymously.
♦ The joy and satisfaction of leaving a legacy that honors and supports equal opportunity and education in our community, for many years to come.
♦ A lasting example to family, friends, and community members of the long-term power of philanthropy.

Below are common planned gifts to consider. In all cases, please consult your financial advisor in making decisions.

Bequests: A charitable gift from your estate or will is a favored method of giving that enables you to achieve your financial goals, maintain control of assets, and benefit “I Have A Dream.”

Beneficiary Designation: This is one of the simplest ways to make a gift. By naming “I Have A Dream” as a tax-exempt beneficiary of your retirement assets, you can significantly reduce estate and income taxes.

You can also designate “I Have A Dream” as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Charitable Gift Annuity: A charitable gift annuity provides fixed payments for life in exchange for a gift of cash or securities to “I Have A Dream.”

Tribute Gifts: A tribute gift is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor a person’s life and accomplishments. Your gift to “I Have A Dream” made in honor or memory of this special person ensures a legacy that extends far into the future.

The “I Have A Dream” Foundation will work with donors and their advisors to identify the purpose within “I Have A Dream” that most closely meets the donor’s wishes. If the gift is $30,000 or more, the donor may create a named fund.

Depending on the gift you choose, you can enjoy certain tax benefits and the peace of mind knowing that your gift will support our proven, long-term academic and career preparation programs and an organization that is recognized on the Social Impact Exchange S&I 100, accredited by the
Better Business Bureau, and designated as a Gold Participant by GuideStar.

If you have remembered “I Have A Dream” in your will or revocable living trust, or are planning to, please let us know. We would like to thank you now and invite you to join the Eugene Lang Legacy Society.

  • "I credit the 'I Have A Dream' Foundation for affecting my life in the most positive way possible. During all of these struggles, ever since I was 8 years old, my “I Have A Dream” Program Director, my class sponsors, Debbie and Steve, and the AmeriCorps members have been there for me."
